Daughter of Murder Victim Launches “Remember Their Names. Share Their Stories.” Campaign for National Day of Remembrance

Mallina Wilson invites families to honor loved ones, share stories and create space for healing ahead of the October release of her memoir, All in a Moment.

BELLINGHAM, WA, UNITED STATES, September 24, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — As communities across the country prepare to observe the National Day of Remembrance for Murder Victims on September 25, author Mallina Wilson is launching a remembrance campaign centered on a simple message:

Remember Their Names. Share Their Stories.

For Wilson, remembrance begins with her mother, Amina Agisheff.

Wilson was 15 years old when her mother disappeared. Two years later, shortly before Wilson’s high school graduation, Amina’s remains were found near North Bend, Washington.

But this September 25, Wilson is asking people to look beyond the circumstances of how victims died and remember how they lived.

“My mother’s name was Amina,” Wilson said. “Before her name became connected to an investigation, she was my mother. She was a daughter, a friend, a woman with a personality, dreams, struggles, memories, and people who loved her. I want people to remember that every victim had a life before they became part of a headline.”

Through the Remember Their Names. Share Their Stories. campaign, Wilson is inviting people to honor someone they have lost by sharing a name, photograph, memory, or story.

The campaign also connects to Wilson’s existing Share Your Story initiative, which gives individuals a place to share personal experiences privately, anonymously, or publicly.

“Sometimes one moment divides your life into before and after,” Wilson said. “That moment may be grief, violence, trauma, addiction, illness, betrayal, or something else you never imagined you would have to live through. I know what it feels like to carry a story like that, and I wanted to create a space where people can share theirs.”

Wilson’s own story became the basis for her forthcoming memoir, All in a Moment, scheduled for release October 27, 2026.

The book explores the disappearance and murder of her mother, the decades of grief and unanswered questions that followed, and Wilson’s eventual journey toward forgiveness, reconciliation, and peace.

Rather than focusing primarily on the crime itself, All in a Moment examines what happens to families after the investigation, media attention, and public interest fade.

“What happens to the people left behind?” Wilson said. “They still grow up. They raise families. They carry anger, memories, questions, milestones, and grief. Life keeps moving, even when part of you feels frozen in one moment.”

An Invitation to Remember
On National Day of Remembrance for Murder Victims, Wilson is asking individuals and organizations to participate in three simple ways:

Remember – Honor someone whose life was taken by sharing their name, photograph, or memory.
Share – Tell a personal story of grief, loss, survival, forgiveness, or healing through Wilson’s Share Your Story platform.
Support – Organizations serving individuals affected by grief, trauma, or violent loss can connect with Wilson’s team regarding bulk copies of All in a Moment, community conversations, and future partnership opportunities.

Wilson is particularly interested in connecting with victim-support organizations, grief programs, churches, counseling centers, community groups, libraries, universities, and organizations serving families affected by traumatic loss.

“My hope is that this becomes much bigger than my story,” Wilson said. “If remembering my mother creates space for someone else to say a name, tell a story, or feel less alone, then something meaningful has happened.”
